About
These guidebooks were produced for field trips the KGS conducted for the public and organizations to different parts of the state. Although the field-trip program has been discontinued, the guidebooks can be used to learn about rocks, fossils, and natural resources and places to find them.
Please note: Some of the featured locations may no longer be accessible. For example, the Kansas Department of Transportation has closed access to the K-4 and U.S. 24 interchange near Topeka included in the Northeastern Kansas guidebook. Be sure to confirm that areas described in these guidebooks are still open to the public and get permission from landowners before going on private property.
