PfEFFER Pro is a cost-effective and practical tool for the
real-time, interactive log analysis. Spreadsheet database and graphic
features allow both rapid interaction and comparative evaluation of
multiple interpretations or best case/worst case extremes. In addition,
multiple wells and zones are easily managed. A project file can be
generated that assembles reservoir parameter, grids them, and displays
them as 2-D maps or 3-D surfaces.
Modules in PfEFFER Pro include:
- Reading LAS digital files
- Hough transform for simultaneous solution of Archie equation constants and formation water resistivity
- Log display
- Calculation of porosity with option for shale correction and secondary porosity
- Constructing a "Super Pickett" crossplot annotated with lines of water saturation, bulk volume water, and permeability
- Shaly sand models for Sw calculation
- Moveable oil plots and calculations
- Pay-flag cutoffs
- Lithology solution
- Capillary-pressure analysis
- Zonation by depth
- Mapping
- Color-image cross section generation
- Latitude-longitude to UTM conversion
- Bridging software to build input file for a reservoir simulator
Requirements: PfEFFER Pro is an add-in for Excel.
PC only, with
at least - Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT/XP operating system. VGA or higher resolution video
adapter. PfEFFER addins and example files require 2 MB hard disk space.
Goals of PfEFFER
- Resolve reservoir parameters that control performance,
- Characterize subtle reservoir properties important in understanding and modeling
- Hydrocarbon pore volume and fluid flow,
- Expedite recognition of bypassed, subtle, and
- Complex oil and gas reservoirs,
- Systematically differentiate commingled reservoirs
- As aid in reservoir management options to improve recovery,
- Assist in integrating large amounts of geological and engineering information to
- Improve reservoir modeling and to define appropriate recovery, technologies, and
- Provide practical tools to assist the geoscientist, engineer, and petroleum operator in
- Making their tasks more efficient and effective.
The minimum log data required by the spreadsheet-based software is a porosity
and resistivity log. Old logs are well suited to this analysis once they are
digitized or simply typed into the spreadsheet. The original PfEFFER project
was very successful and resulted in an approach and a software program that has
been well received by the sponsoring companies.
